Frequently asked questions
How does the first consultation work and what should I bring?
You book an appointment in advance through the reservation system, where you choose the area your case concerns — and you see the price of the consultation right at booking. You don't need to bring anything; it is enough if you can name what you need to solve. We will tell you the next steps directly at the consultation; they always depend on the specific case. If you have any documents to hand (contracts, decisions of authorities, correspondence), feel free to bring them — but it is not a condition.
When do I need a lawyer during a tax audit?
Ideally right after you receive the notice of the audit. What you say and submit during the audit is very hard to change later in an appeal or in court — so it pays to set the strategy before the file is closed. We represent clients during the audit, in appeals and in judicial review.
Do I need a licence to do business with crypto-assets?
It depends on the exact activity you carry out. Under the European MiCA regulation, some crypto-asset services require authorisation (a licence), others do not. We therefore assess each model individually — usually it involves regulation, AML and tax at once, and these must be addressed together, not separately.
What should a shareholder agreement contain?
Above all the decision-making process, the transfer of ownership interests, deadlock resolution and the terms of a shareholder's exit. These points seem unnecessary as long as the shareholders agree — and become decisive the moment they stop agreeing. Setting up relationships between shareholders is one of the things we do most often.
Do you also provide services in the Czech Republic?
Yes. We have an office in Prague and for clients operating on both markets we handle Slovak and Czech matters, including cross-border transactions and international taxation.
Do you also do accounting, or only legal services?
Both — we provide accounting in cooperation with the accounting firm Wellbens. This means you get the legal, tax and accounting solution from one place and don't have to coordinate it yourself. We call this model advisory under one roof.
What languages do you communicate in?
Slovak, Czech, English and German.
Do you also represent clients in court disputes?
Yes. Besides advisory and drafting contracts, we also represent clients in disputes — in commercial, tax or criminal matters. Where possible, we try to settle the dispute by agreement before going to court.
