This concerns you if…

You are considering expansion into Hungary

You are deciding whether to set up a kft. or whether selling from a Slovak company is enough. You want to know what it will really cost you per year — not just at set-up.

You already do business in Hungary and hit a wall

The authorities communicate in Hungarian, the bank won't open an account, VAT works differently than you expected. You need answers to specific situations.

You invest in Hungarian real estate

Apartments, commercial premises or corporate assets. You are interested in the ownership structure, the transfer tax and how to get the return back to Slovakia.

You run a company with SK–HU transactions

You are responsible for dividends, withholding tax, VAT on cross-border movement of goods between the two countries and for posting of workers.

Secondarily, the seminar is intended for accountants and tax advisors whose clients ask about Hungary — and who want to answer precisely.

Why now →

01 Why this seminar

Hungary works differently from Slovakia.
Those who know the rules can use them.

The Slovak and Hungarian legal systems differ in the way a company is set up, in the structure of taxation, in registration obligations and in official communication. In addition to income tax, Hungary applies a local tax (helyi iparűzési adó) which is based on net turnover (revenue), plus different rules for setting up a company, one of the highest VAT rates in the EU, the costs of mandatory registrations and annual operation, the language barrier in dealing with the authorities and practical obstacles to opening a corporate bank account. The decision on whether a Hungarian company is worth it for you cannot be built on a single figure — you need to know the legislation of both countries.

That is why the entire seminar is built on a direct comparison of the legislation: how a specific area is regulated in Slovakia and how in Hungary. For each topic you will see both systems side by side — and what that difference means for your business.

02 For whom

Who this seminar is for.

The seminar is not an academic lecture or an overview of Hungarian legislation. It is a practical format for people deciding whether to enter the Hungarian market — and who need to know what specifically to do, how much it will cost and where the risks are. We cover each topic in comparison with the Slovak rules, so that you see the difference immediately.

The seminar is intended precisely for you if you are:

— 01

An owner or director of a Slovak s. r. o.

You are considering entering the Hungarian market and need to know whether to set up a kft. or use a branch or organisational unit of the Slovak company. The difference in cost and in liability is significant.

— 02

An entrepreneur already operating in Hungary

You have encountered practical problems — authorities, the bank, VAT, language. Bring your specific question; the closing panel discussion is reserved precisely for such situations.

— 03

An investor in real estate and corporate assets

You buy or sell in Hungary. Restrictions for foreign persons, the role of the notary and the land registry, the transfer tax and the process from the reservation agreement to the entry in the land registry.

— 04

CFOs and finance directors

You run a company with cross-border SK–HU transactions. Withholding tax on the transfer of profit, VAT on the movement of goods within the EU, posting of workers and the A1 form.

03 Programme

Programme of the seminar.

Four thematic blocks, one story. Each block combines the story of a model entrepreneur, the legal and tax framework and a moderated discussion — for each topic first the Slovak rules, then the Hungarian, then the practical impact. Specific steps instead of a general overview.

Case study — the common thread of the seminar

One model entrepreneur guides you through the whole programme — Peter, the owner of a Slovak s. r. o. His story unfolds gradually across all four blocks: setting up a kft. → an organisational unit → buying land for the premises → the real taxes and levies at the end of the year. Each block closes with an update of his story with specific figures and deadlines — you will remember it far better than separate tables of statutory provisions.

What it looks like in practice

The practical experience of entrepreneurs who already really operate in both countries — not just the advisors' view. Moderated by JUDr. Viktória Kertészová, LL.M. We collect questions for the discussion on an ongoing basis via Slido, so that we get to as many topics as possible.

The times are indicative and may shift slightly.

Frequently asked questions

What you most often ask.

Who is the seminar for?

For owners and directors of Slovak companies who are considering or already carrying out activities in Hungary, for investors in Hungarian real estate and corporate assets, and for CFOs and finance directors of companies with cross-border SK–HU transactions. Equally for accountants and tax advisors whose clients deal with Hungary.

Does it make sense if I already do business in Hungary?

Yes, and it is one of the main target groups. The blocks on taxes, banking, employment and the most common mistakes are built on situations that arise only during operation, not at set-up. The consultation block is intended precisely for specific problems — we recommend coming with a prepared question.

Is the price final?

Yes. The stated amount is the final price you will pay and will not be increased by VAT. After payment we will automatically send you an invoice for your accounting.

How does payment work?

Payment is made online via Stripe — by card, or optionally Apple Pay or Google Pay. The invoice will come to you automatically by e-mail. You can pay as an individual or on behalf of a company; you enter the billing details during registration.

What if I cannot attend on the day of the seminar?

You can transfer the ticket to a colleague — just let us know the name of the new participant by e-mail.

Will there be room for my specific question?

Yes, that is precisely why we limit capacity to 50 participants. We close the seminar with a panel discussion to which you can send questions on an ongoing basis via Slido — the moderator selects those that resonate with several participants. The answers are of a general professional nature; a separate individual consultation after the seminar serves to assess your specific situation.

Photographs and video recording of the event

During the seminar we take photographs and a video recording. The controller of the processing is the company Steiniger´s, s. r. o., with its registered office at Jasovská 3128/17, 851 07 Bratislava – mestská časť Petržalka, IČO: 44 002 114. The making of recordings is not conditional on your consent, but we fully respect your privacy. You may object to being filmed or photographed at any time — just let our staff know at registration or write to us at info@steinigers.com; in that case we will not use footage of you any further.
